Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the second woman to serve as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Nominated by President Bill Clinton in 1993 to fill the seat vacated by Justice Byron White, then-Judge Ginsburg was confirmed by the Senate in a 96–3 vote on August 3, 1993, and took office on August 10. She died from complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer on September 18, 2020.
