L a n e a n d Ebony t e s t i f i e d that S m i t h was somewhat l a r g e r t h a n L a n e , and i t appears t h a t he h a d t h e e l e m e n t o f s u r p r i s e on h i s s i d e , b e c a u s e L a n e d i d n o t appear t o have e x p e c t e d t h a t a n o t h e r man w o u l d be a t E b o n y ' s apartment.
