U.S. Supreme Court
Lent v. Tillson, 140 U.S. 316 (1891)
Lent v. Tillson
No. 144
Argued January 8-9, 1891
Decided May 11, 1891
140 U.S. 316
ERROR TO THE SUPREME COURT
OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
Syllabus
The Statute of California of March 23, 1876, entitled "An act to authorize the widening of Dupont Street in the City of San Francisco," provides for a due process of law for taking the property necessary for that purpose, and is not repugnant to the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Mere errors in the administration of a state statute which is not repugnant to the Constitution of the United States will not authorize this Court, in its reexamination of the judgment of the state court on writ of error, to hold that the state had deprived, or was about to deprive a party of his property without due process of law.
